The Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Gboko, His Lordship Most Rev. Williams Avenya has pleaded with Gov. Gabriel Suswam of Benue to update workers salaries in the state.
Avenya said the governor should effect the update before the end of his tenure.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that workers in the state are yet to be paid their August and September salaries.
Avenya was speaking on Sunday at the thanksgiving ceremony organised by the Vandeikya Traditional Council in Tse Mker, Vandeikya Local Government Area of the state, in honour of Gov Gabriel Suswam.
The bishop, who was represented by Rev. Fr. Stephen Iortyer, urged Suswam to do everything within his powers to update the outstanding workers’ salaries in the state.
“It is on record that your administration has improved the general welfare of workers in the state, especially the primary schools teachers.
“Please try your best and update workers’ salaries in the state before the end of your tenure next year.
“You have carried out a lot of infrastructural projects in the state, some have been completed while a few others are still ongoing, please ensure that all your projects are completed in record time.
