A first half header from Bakri Abdelgadir gave Sudan a 1-0 win over Nigeria in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the El-Merreikh Stadium.
Sudan proved to be tough opponent in the opening 45 minutes, despite what happened in their previous AFCON qualifiers.
Although Nigeria did create the better chances, firstly Nosa Igiebor striking the upright inside the opening 15 minutes, after being teed up by Emineke.
The Super Eagles managed to see most of the ball in the first half and had another opportunity midway through the second stanza, but John Obi Mikel steered his effort wide of the mark from the edge of the area.
Nigeria goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, was a virtually a spectator for most of the first half and did not have a single save to make.
However, just before the halftime break the home side took the lead against the run of play, as Abdelgadir beat his marker before thumping home a header past a helpless Enyeama.
Emmanuel Emenike almost leveled matters for Nigeria seconds after the restart, the striker muscled his way through on goal but his shot was saved by Moez Majoub.
Keshi’s side failed to create anything for large parts of the game and the Eagles boss only made his first change in the 71st minute, brining on Sunday Emmanuel to replace Gbolahan Salami.
Nigeria had a chance to equalise in the 78th minute, as Emenike’s poor touch fell to Ahmed Musa, who could only steer his effort wide of the target from inside the area.
The Super Eagles could not find a goal late on, and now remain winless in the qualifying campaign.
