Two brothers have been remanded in prison custody by a Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court in Benue State on allegation of conspiracy and illegal possession of arms.
The court heard that Dauda Atala and Baba Atala were apprehended by operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) and handed over to the police.
The prosecution said the suspects were on their way to deliver arms to a buyer when they were arrested.
The prosecution said their offence contravened Section 6(B) and 3(1) of Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. He also asked the court for another date, as investigation into the matter was ongoing.
The accused persons did not take pleas for lack of jurisdiction.
Chief Magistrate Cecilia Bakare adjourned the case to Oct 13.
