Police begin special operation to tackle Benue criminals

Following the increasing crime rate in Benue State, the state police command has begun a special operation to arrest the trend and rid the state of criminals.

State Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ezeala, told The PUNCH on Friday in an interview  that the number of robbery cases and other similar criminal activities in the state had increased in recent time, describing the situation as worrisome.

He said the operation, which commenced on Frida, was aimed at checking the activities of criminals, who hid under the guise of Okada operators and taxi drivers, to rob people of their money at gunpoint.

The PPRO reminded motorcycle users that the ban on use of motorcycles in the state beyond 8pm was still in force and warned that any one caught violating the law risk severe sanctions.

He called on members of the public to report all suspicious movements around them to security agents for prompt action.
