Youth groups from both the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP , and other opposition parties the in Benue State, yesterday declared their support for the governorship aspiration of a former Director at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Emanuel Akem.
At a joint news conference in Makurdi, the state capital, the groups led by Aondona Terver, of the PDP Youth Vanguard, said their decision to rally support for Akem was to check the simmering zoning crisis in the state.
Terver said, “We have decided to rally support for Akem and also call on him to join the governorship race without delay.
“We the youths of Benue are doing this because we are no longer interested in the logjam, political gimmicks of unresolved zoning crises in Benue.
“We have undoubtedly found in him those rare leadership qualities hence our decision to support him across party lines in the interest of our people.”
