PDP elders select 4 for gov race, drop 17 in Benue

As governorship primaries draw nearer,  elders of Peoples Democratic Party in MINDA axis of Benue State have pruned the numbers of aspirants from 21 to four.

Saturday Tribune investigation revealed that the party elders, who met on Friday in Makurdi  to strategise on the forthcoming 2015 governorship election which the axis is battling with zone C (Idoma), decided to narrow down the number of aspirants so as to have a smooth sail in the forthcoming primaries.

It was further learnt that the meeting  by party elders in MINDA ratified three aspirants already approved by Tiv traditional council and replaced the fourth aspirant with another person based on not meeting the party’s rule of required period of being a member of the party before declaring his intention.

Those approved are outgoing Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Investment, Chief Sam Ortom; former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Terhemen Tarzoor; former registrar of Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria, Mr. Felix Atume and former Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Alex Adum.
