Party crisis: Youths allege complicity against Benue PDP boss

Benue State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Dr. Agbo Emmanuel has been accused of complications in the current crisis bedeviling Okpokwu Local Government and also trying to subvert peace in the party and the state. In a press release signed by Honourable James Obekpa, President of the Idoma Youth Defence Vanguard, the state chairman is responsible for the crisis witnessed in Okpokwu local government, where the chairman is currently on suspension by the Benue State House of Assembly. The group further accused the state deputy governor, Chief Steven Lawani of supporting the PDP chairman’s antics in a bid to secure his political ambition. “… behind Dr. Agbo Emmanuel, is the Deputy Governor of Benue state, Chief Steven Lawani, who has interest in what happens in the zone after 2015 when he is no longer Deputy Governor has recruited Dr. Agbo as hatchet man to frustrate all other players in the state and the zone.” It read in part. According to them the state chairman who is said to be battling with the Minister for Interior, Comr. Abba Morro, for the local government’s headship, is in a running battle with the suspended local government chairman over control of the local government resources which has culminated in the chairman’s suspension. The release also called on the national leadership of the party and the state government to wade into the crisis in view to checkmate Dr. Agbo and save the state from delving into crisis.
