Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, last week swore in the 23 Directors, General Services and Administration, DGSAs, as sole administrators to man the affairs of the third tier of government pending the conduct of LG elections slated for June this year.
Performing the ceremony at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue People’s House Makurdi, Governor Ortom charged the sole administrators to quickly settle down and render selfless service to people at the grassroots.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Benson Abouno, Governor Ortom said though they were sole administrators, they were not dictators and urged them to consult relevant stakeholders in the administration of the local government Council.
He charged them to be people oriented in their actions and always reside in their local government headquarters, positing that they should obtain permission from appropriate authorities anytime they want to travel out of their of jurisdiction.
The Governor while tasking new sole administrators on good governance, accountability, transparency, said their choice was to cut cost, taking into cognisance the dwindling Federal Allocation to states and Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Sole Administrator of Guma Local Government Council, Hon. Joseph Apera, appreciated Governor Ortom for finding them worthy of the appointments and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
