Governor Suswam commends Nigerian Breweries over donation to schools

Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam has extolled Nigerian Breweries Plc for contributing to the development of education by donating classroom blocks with modern facilities for human development to communities across the country.
The governor made the commendation in Gboko at the weekend while commissioning a six classroom block donated by NB to NKST Primary School, Anzwar, Gboko North, Gboko local government area of the state.
The items donated included tables and chairs, for pupils and teachers; library, books, workstations as well as conveniences as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.
Suswam explained that the state government was enthusiastic about the educational growth and development of youths in the state and as a result of that has committed a lot of resources to education and youth related activities.
“Corporate social responsibility is done voluntarily, so what you have done is worthy of commendation and government is aware of the value you can add to society by your corporate social responsibility”, Suswam stated.
The governor noted that government would take custody of the project on behalf of the school community and hoped that the gesture by NB would strengthen the bond between the organization and the community.
In his address at the occasion, Managing Director/Chief Executive, NB Plc, Nicolass Vervelde said that the donation was in view of its commitment towards revitalizing education and human capital development in the state.
Vervelde who was represented by the organization’s Corporate Affairs Adviser, Kufre Ekanem said the organization “appreciate the positive efforts of governor Suswam in the development of education in the state.” 
He stressed that since government alone cannot carry the entire burden of education, NB, as a responsible corporate organisation thought it necessary to support the government and the people of the state.
