Benue NUT insists on October resumption date

The Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Benue State chapter, has said it stands on the October 13, 2014 resumption date earlier announced by the Federal Government in view of the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.

The Chairman of NUT in the state, Godwin Anya, while speaking in an interview with National Mirror yesterday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, urged members of the union to shun the September 22, 2014 resumption date announced by the Federal Government.

He said “in view of the ongoing negotiation of the national secretariat of NUT with the Federal Government on the October 13, 2014 preferred by our union as the most tentative resumption date, we are still waiting for the outcome of that negotiation.

” Anya further disclosed that preventive measures must be put in place to avoid unpleasant consequences, stressing that most schools have no pipe borne water talk less of necessary equipment that are required in checking incidence of the EVD.
