Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), yesterday declared their support for the gubernatorial bid of England. Ada Chenge to takeover from the Benue state governor, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Suswam.
The students, under the leadership of Comr. Gideon Obande said their support for Ada Chenge, was as a result of her track records in public service and out of the fact that she was the only serious female contender in the race.
According to Obande, the candidacy of Ada signified the genuine interest of the women folk to take proper leadership and elective positions. He further called on the president to also show his will to implement his 35% affirmative action promise by not only giving out appointive positions but also elective positions.
The students who described Ada Chenge as an epitome of determination and desire to excel, listed her achievements among many others as the construction of the greater makurdi water works, which earned her promotion and as Managing Director Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, where she has performed excellently well.
Obande said apart from her sterling performance as an achiever, Ada was in a vintage position being a daughter of Idoma land and also married to a Tiv man, she stands the chance to settle the agitation of marginalisation by the people of Zone C while also pacifying the Tiv interests.
