Thirteen persons among them two women are jostling for the Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State.
Daily Independent gathered that one of the latest entrants, Kukase Tyoer-Garba, would be slugging it out at next month’s primary to fly the party’s flag in the 2015 elections.
Speaking with Daily Independent in Vandeikya, Vandeikya Local Government of the state, Garba who inaugurated her 23-man campaign team said she was hopeful that she would come out tops.
She argued that she possesses the quality leadership desired by her constituents to represent them well.
While noting that she was not intimidated by the men in the race with her, she said as a woman she deserved the chance because she has something to offer to the people.
Garba, a one-time and only female President of the Student Union Government (SUG) at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, insisted that she has been in the game of politics for ages and had always been at the top.
She further pointed out that since the advent of democracy in the country most of the youths in her constituency and beyond have abandoned agriculture, seeking to make it out in politics.
Garba said if given the opportunity to serve, she would change this perception, adding that the high rate of unemployment in her constituency was alarming.
She further observed that when she becomes the lawmaker in her constituency, she would assist and encourage her constituents to become self-employed by empowering them to set up businesses of their own.
