Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom today urged members of his cabinet to shun sycophantic behaviour and show commitment in their various places of assignment for the success of the present administration.
Governor Ortom gave the charge while presiding over the State Executive Council meeting at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
The Governor quoted parts of the concession speech made by the defeated immediate past President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, reminding his appointees that the success or failure of a leader depends largely on the nature of subordinates such a leader has.
“The success or failure of a leader depends on the kind of people he or she surrounds themselves with.
“The praise-singing sycophants who act the dictates of their stomachs are only specialized in telling you what you want to hear.” He quoted.
The governor also announced that a two-day retreat will be held next month to appraise the performance of members and chart the way forward for the state.
